Still no word in the newspapers about
Gay Mitchell's speech. Seriously what is the deal with this.
Tom Parlon rigs a local radio txt poll and it gets covered on Budget day. Gay Mitchell talks about bring back the Monacary during the silly season. And what do we get. Nothing. Is it just me or is that strange. I know I sound like a broken record. But still strange.

Are you sure you're not Gay's PR man? Cos it sounds fierce like you're trying to get him some attention.
No Just the fact that it is a big story on the net and no one in the media is talking about it. Power to the blogs and all that. They have covered Enda's garda reform and no one on the net has even mentioned it
But is it a big story on the web? You've raised it 3 times, twice here and once on Irishelection, and it's on slugger but it's hardly a long thread and as for p.ie well I've not bothered to read the thread as it is the usual suspects talking up their standard FG are all moles for MI5/6. Fact is the print medium actually sometimes read the whole press release and actually pay attention to what person was saying, instead of seeing Gay, Fine Gael, Monarchy on the page and running about the place like it was the days of Strongbow again.
It is bigger then Garda
reform.
You can't seriously believe that.
What that gay mithchel speech got more coverage then Enda Kenny's annoucement on garda refrom on the net?
In that sense from what I've seen I would agree with you. What does it suggest though, that the net is more concerned with ephemera or substance?

That is a whole other debate. But put it this way I have written long thought out posts that took hours to write which no one has replied to. Others that have been quick patisan hackery. The hackery always gets more replies.
Not saying what I wrote about Mitchell is not what I thought of the speech (nor do I take your interpedation of it I believe he was floating the idea) but you know everyone has an opinion on it.
And remember who the people on the net are usually normal people. (well on blogs anyway Pol.ie seems to have a lot of party members) I think if this was covered on the last word for instance it would get a big response. and thus to me it is strange why it was not covered
It is different to say that everyone has an opinion of the speech which most of them haven't read or that everyone has an opinion of the idea of sending an invitation in the morning getting the Queen's feet back under the table. They are two different things and you're discussing the latter rather than the former.
