Last night on Questions and Answers (
watch here) Michael D Higgins said that Pat Rabbitte's
remarks about 40 million poles was unfortunate. Is that not what
Sinn Fein say of the killing of Garda Jerry McCabe. That is was unfortunate. Is this the kind of dodging the question spin we have to put up with in Ireland. Do we not deserve more!

I disagree, of all politicians, you can hardly call Higgins a spin doctor.
What would you call it. You either say what he says was wrong or it was right.
If you think Sinn Fein saying killing Garda mcCabe was unfortuante is spining. I can't see how you can say Higgins saying pat's comments were unfortunate is not spin
ya maybe pat rabbitte is starting "pats fun facts of the day". Mearly stating how many telgraph poles are in ireland. Maybe the next day pat said there is "800 panda's in the wild you know".
Well its obvioiusly spin from Higgins, however i don't think its on the same level of Sinn Feins comments on Gerry McCabe.
It is on a lower level then Sinn Fein as it is less sinister motive. But on purel on level of applying spinology I think it is very close.
Sometimes it's not wise for politicians to obviously clash with their leader, regardless of what they believe themselves. I think Michael D's intentions were different to Sinn Fein's. Same phrase, completely different meaning. I'd take what he said as "read between the lines, I dont agree with Rabbitte"
i'd take what he said as "read between the lines, I dont agree with Rabbitte"
If he meant it why did he not say it. It is the same intention as Sinn Fein. Keep the voters that agree with what was said and keep the ones that disagree.
Keep the voters that agree with what was said and keep the ones that disagree.
That sums up most of Irish politics...
