Actually FG got 27% in 1997 not 32.6%. I am seriously put off FG because of what Richard Bruton has said calling for General Election votes for all immigrants living here 3 years. We would be a minority of the electorate and foreigners would choose our govt. Because of the age-profile of the newcomers they, being 10% of the population, would constitute 20% of the electorate. I asked my hairdresser what she thought she's totally opposed. I consider the current crowd to be too liberal on immigration but things will get much worse under the dogooders in FG and the Labour backbenchers. Despite Pat Rabbitte's remarks on the issue, I don't believe he speaks for his backbenchers on this question.
