I thought the movie to be good, certainly better than the recent Bond outings.

However I would stop short of describing the movie as excellent, more a promising start to the new direction of the franchise.

I liked Craig in it, but Im not yet convinced he's bond.Eamonnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14178748742260174594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13722343.post-1164911282981331002006-11-30T18:28:00.000+00:002006-11-30T18:28:00.000+00:00I'm not going to go reiterating my points to reinf...I'm not going to go reiterating my points to reinforce them or try to refute others opinions, film and its enjoyment is entirely subjective.

However I will say that faithfullness to a novel is not always wise (look at the Harry Potter series).

What we needed to see transferred to the screen was some attempt at intrigue, a homogenous story and most importantly a central character who despite his harshness and isolation is still compelling and engaging to the viewer. This I felt was not achieved and I felt Craig was given the part of a thug more akin to the monotone henchmen of previous Bond films.

If this reimagining if to focus more on Bond as an assassin or killer than a spy then it is essential he have some tangible appeal or at least be caught up in compelling events and circumstances where he proves his ability and earns his credentials in the audiences eyes, surely this is what taking us back to a new beginning is all about?- I was not impressed and just don't feel a seed of potential was set.CKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00692370833615447357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13722343.post-1164908280823003562006-11-30T17:38:00.000+00:002006-11-30T17:38:00.000+00:00The films have always had product placement - look...The films have always had product placement - look for the strategically placed bottles of Smirnoff in Dr No.

This is Bond as Fleming imagined him - a cold hearted, sexist killer. Not the cartoon action hero that he had become.

The series was well overdue for reimagining. To anyone that argues I have two words - "Invisible Car" :-)

I loved this one and will gladly pay to see the next one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13722343.post-1164845653107880972006-11-30T00:14:00.000+00:002006-11-30T00:14:00.000+00:00I agree with Simon. But my reservations were quickly washed away.

I hate changing Bonds. I hope they keep Craig on for a good long time.Godwhackerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06337984432156799228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13722343.post-1164832998559200682006-11-29T20:43:00.000+00:002006-11-29T20:43:00.000+00:00I've read the book also and its pretty boring apar...I've read the book also and its pretty boring apart from the torture scene.CKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00692370833615447357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13722343.post-1164827495091558272006-11-29T19:11:00.000+00:002006-11-29T19:11:00.000+00:00I thought the film was excellent and pretty much h...I thought the film was excellent and pretty much have to disagree with all you said. The plot is more or less that of the book. This is what a bond movie is suppoosed to be not gadjetsSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13851386083389876851noreply@blogger.com
